Oxford is a historic small town located in Sumner County, Kansas on Highway 160. Oxford has been named a TREE CITY USA since 1992.
The town site sits on the west bank of the Arkansas River. Cave Park is located on the east side of town, and offers a playground area for children, a covered shelter, and a public access, paved boat ramp to the Arkansas River.
Little Town Square is in the heart of the City and provides a place to sit and enjoy the activities downtown.
Napawalla Park, located right off Highway 160, provides camping facilities and covered shelters with tables, and a great playground area.
The Oxford Public Library, also located at 115 South Sumner, is open Monday thru Friday from 9-Noon and 1-5 PM. The Library provides special programs during the year such as the Summer Reading Program, Page Turners Book Club, Books and Babies, Story Time and other fun activities.

|Job Description : Position Title: Utility Maintenance Worker I|
Department: Public Works
Reports to: Superintendent of Public Works
Under the direct supervision of the Public Works Superintendent, the Utility Maintenance Worker I position will perform skilled and semi-skilled work in maintaining the city’s water supply, electric service, sewer lines, parks and streets. The duties of this position will include reading all electric and water meters monthly, maintaining the water wells and distribution lines, operation and maintenance of the electric generators and electric distribution lines, maintaining the sewer lines and sewer lagoons, mowing city property, repairing and maintaining streets. Assignments are carried out following prescribed policies.
One to three years of public works experience is preferred. Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well after six months in the position. Employee is required to obtain a Class I Sewer Certification and a Class I Water Certification within two (2) years of employment.
High School Diploma or GED required. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Knowledge of chemical usage and dosage required for water treatment. Knowledge of equipment repair and maintenance. Knowledge of electrical distribution and power. The ability to operate a backhoe, road grader, tractor, dump truck, sewer machines, mowers, aerial trucks, power and hand tools, and other related equipment.
Beginning Wage: $11.00-$14.00 per hour depending on qualifications;
