City Utility Bills are mailed by the 1st of each month and are due by the 20th of each month.
 
 
The City Bill includes the electric, water, refuse & sewer. Bills that are not paid by the Due Date will have a 10% penalty added.  Residents are notified by mail when their utility bills are not paid by the due date. Utilities are disconnected if left unpaid, and after a set amount of time will be sent to the State of Kansas for set off against their taxes.

Refuse for residential customers are picked up on WEDNESDAYS and THURSDAYS. The current contractor is T.L. Pearson of TL’s Sanitation. If you live north of Highway 160, your trash will be picked up every Wednesday. If you live south of Highway 160, your trash will be picked up every Thursday. Refuse should be placed in containers with tight fitting lids and put near the street on pick up days. Each family can have up to four 30 gallon containers. A single occupant can have two 30 gallon containers. Poly carts are also available to local residents to rent. The cart rental of a poly cart is $2. a month.

Dog Licenses can be purchased, with a completed certificate of rabies immunization from a licensed veterinarian, for an annual registration fee of $5. The registration year runs from January 1st to December 31st. The City also holds an animal clinic once a year-generally in November- and an area veterinarian is invited to provide vaccines to the area resident’s pets at a fair value.

for any additions to your property or extensions to the perimeter of your existing residence. Permits are $25. and can be purchased at the City Office. A completed and approved permit must be on file before the project is started. Property lines are located with the assistance of a real estate surveyor. The City does not provide this service.

Voter Registration Cards may be picked up at the City Office, and mailed directly to the Sumner County Clerk. Registration deadline is 21 days before an election.

City Burnsite is located 1 mile south and ½ mile east of the City and is open on pre-scheduled Saturdays. This averages approximately 2 times a month during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. Only yard waste is accepted (tree limbs, leaves). A list of opening dates is available through the City Office or the City's website.
