Trash Rate Update – Effective February 1, 2026 Trash Rate Update – Effective February 1, 2026 Friday, January 16, 2026 Oxford News The City would like to share an update regarding residential trash rates. Beginning February 1, 2026, the monthly trash rate will reflect a $1.00 City service fee, consistent with existing City Code. This fee has historically been part of the trash rate and is retained by the City of Oxford to help support the administrative and operational costs associated with providing trash services. While trash collection is contracted to an outside provider, the City continues to manage billing, oversight, and related services. This adjustment restores a long-standing practice and does not represent an increase by the contracted trash service. The City is committed to being transparent with residents and appreciates your understanding as we ensure services remain sustainable and well-managed. Questions may be directed to the City Office. Before You Open The Door: What to Know About Solicitors Before You Open The Door: What to Know About Solicitors Permit REQUIRED Wednesday, December 10, 2025 URGENT, Oxford News The City of Oxford would like to remind residents that all door-to-door solicitors are required by city ordinance to obtain a Solicitor’s Permit from the City Office before conducting any sales or promotions within city limits. If someone comes to your home attempting to sell a product or service, please ask to see their City-issued permit. Legitimate solicitors will have this permit on hand and will show it upon request. If the individual does not have a permit, or refuses to show one, please call 911 (non-emergency) to request an officer to be dispatched. This helps ensure the safety of our community and protects residents from potential scams. 🎉 2026 Planners Have Arrived! 🎉 🎉 2026 Planners Have Arrived! 🎉 Wednesday, December 10, 2025 Oxford News, Events If you’ve been patiently (or not-so-patiently) counting down the days, the wait is officially over. Our 2026 planners have made their grand entrance at the City Office, and yes — they’re free! As many of you know, we order these every year for our staff, but the supplier only sells them in bulk… large bulk. So, once again, we’re swimming in planners. Instead of building a fort out of them (tempting, but frowned upon), we’re handing them out to anyone who wants one. If you’re the type who likes to get a jump on the new year, or if you simply enjoy a crisp, empty planner full of possibility, stop by the office during business hours and pick one up. Supplies will last until… well, until you all wipe us out like you do every year. Come grab yours — before we start using them as doorstops. 😉 Read more
